MODERNIZATION vs THE ANCIENT WAYS

4-23-07

Hello Dear Ones:

Civilization is destroying itself by modernization.

It would, of course, be impossible to feed this many billions of people by ancient methods but at the same time, if ancient methods of growing food are not used, mankind will destroy itself.

That would mean, of course, that technology will no longer exist and mankind will have to revert to ancient ways. The problem therein lies the fact that mankind  on the whole does not have the ancient knowledge to feed himself safely and well.

Tribes in tee rainforest of South America and in the jungles of Africa have not modernized and still use the ancient ways to feed themselves. Modern man could learn much from these tribes rather than trying to modernize them. They were happy people until mankind came to them with their Bibles.

Their ancient traditions did well for them. Modern man not only brought them modern technology along with their Bibles, they brought multiple diseases  as well, which never existed in the isolated camps of the tribes.

If the land wore out where the tribes lived, they merely had to move to another part of the jungle or rainforest where natural food was abundant until the previous land recovered from the usage of man.

Animals do the same thing.  When their  prey becomes unavailable, they move on.

Mankind has doe this in a way, by conquering other countries and lands because of greed.. They did not go in to share but to lord over the others, and grab what was available. That, in the end, will be man's undoing.

So many men and women alike, are willing to share their abundance, there is no need to grab, demolish and destroy one another. If man does not change his ways, he will no longer exist.

But, I digress and we shall talk about feeding the people safely and well.

Do 'not' use chemicals in the food garden. Not in the flower garden either, for that matter.

I have been stressing to many to use companion planting.  When planting food seeds, one should also plant the seeds of companion plants that have flowers that either repel or attract the insects that would destroy the food plant if unattended.

Sometimes the little creatures can be plucked off the plant and removed, but sometimes the creatures are so small, they are virtually unseen.

Dee has used a method of treating her rose bushes successfully by using an old native method of distributing old coffee grounds around the bushes and watering well. Aphids will disappear when using this method.

Marigolds will repel certain insects and animals because of their pungent odor.  Other plants attract flies because of their odor. Because of these methods, by companion planting, the distribution of tiny creatures will be simpler to monitor and control.

Try garlic crushed in water to put on food plants. The little creatures will not like the garlic and move elsewhere to munch their dinner.

Dee can provide other suggestions to get away from chemicals.

Please don't use chemicals on your food.  You will only poison yourselves.

Have a safe and happy summer.

We will return!

Thank you for listening.

Earthwise!
